I have wanted to create album artwork for years, but I never wanted to re-create artwork for an existing album; Sometimes the artwork is so symbiotic with the music that it is hard to imagine anything else. So I thought I should just create a new album instead, one which I have total control over.

The Smiths have been a massive part of my music rotation for several years now, and the fans have always been left wondering what would have happened if they had not split up, which is the backstory to this project - their last album.

The first part of my research was finding photos of old movie stars, some of which were previously used for the band's covers, such as Alain Delon and James Dean. As well as gathering potential photos to use, I looked through the typefaces used and eventually found a colour scheme.

All the previous covers had a very similar which I tried to emulate, whilst also trying to make it unique. I also looked at how the vinyl sleeves and labels were designed, following this format for the full album and the 7" single releases shown below.
